Heights extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 6-11. They came up short against the Bishop Carroll Golden Eagles, falling 17-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-2 on Monday.
Heights saw nine different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kingston Matchett, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Hunter Clegg also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
As for Bishop Carroll, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.
On Bishop Carroll's side, Hunter Axline was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Axline has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Judd Blasi, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Bode Lubbers was another key player, going 2-for-5 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Heights didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against West on the 27th. As for Bishop Carroll, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Olathe South on the 25th.
