The Abilene Christian Panthers had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Anson 72-31 on the road. The victory was all the more spectacular given Abilene Christian's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1080th, while Anson is ranked 58th).
Bryinn Waggoner was his usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 23 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Abilene Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Camp, who scored 14 points along with 4 steals.
Abilene Christian's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Anson, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-1.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Huckabay the next time they take the court. Abilene Christian will head out to face Huckabay at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, while Anson will head out to face them at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
