The Lake Holcombe Chieftains pushed their score all the way to 96 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Winter at home by a decisive 112-96 margin. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Tuesday (55), Lake Holcombe still had to take the loss.
Winter had a senior duo take command as Curtis Thompson scored 39 points and Gunnar Greuel dropped a double-double on 34 points and 33 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thompson has scored all season. Adam Bednorski was another key contributor, scoring 25 points along with four steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Lake Holcombe and nudges their season record down to 7-6. As for Winter, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season.
Lake Holcombe's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Prairie Farm at 7:15 p.m. on January 19th. Prairie Farm is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Winter, they will head out on the road to face off against Birchwood at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
