The Laurel Golden Tornadoes entered their tilt with the Stone Tomcats with 16 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 17. Laurel simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Tomcats 80-18 at home. Laurel has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 contests by 20 points or more this season.
Laurel's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kayllis Walker, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Walker has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Marissa Ulmer, who scored 13 points along with five assists and five steals.
Laurel pushed their record up to 22-3 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for Stone, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-12.
Laurel does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Stone will head out on the road to take on the Gators at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
