6A District 6 recap Nov. 7, 2012
Simon Kenton was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping Bryan Station. The Pioneers came in at 23 in the state poll after placing at number 30 last week.
Campbell County took down Dunbar 57-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Brenan Kuntz put up the best numbers through the air as Simon Kenton beat the Defenders. He finished with 10 completions for 109 yards and one touchdown. Kuntz's favorite target this week was Grant Wassom, who caught three passes for 58 yards.
Mustafa Diaw was the most productive running back in 6A District 6 this week. In 38 carries, he ran for 183 yards as Boone County fell to Pleasure Ridge Park. Jerry Marshall also contributed to the rushing game with 72 yards on the ground.
Schulze was the best wideout in the league this week as the Rebels lost to the Panthers. Schulze racked up three receptions for 83 yards.
Simon Kenton's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Pioneers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Kuntz has thrown for 1949 yards and 18 touchdowns this season, while Wassom has 43 catches for 706 yards. Andrew Sampson leads the league in rushing with 877 yards.
The top two teams in 6A District 6 will face off this week when first place Simon Kenton takes on second place Campbell County. Jeff Marksberry's team bested Bryan Station last week, while the Camels beat the Bulldogs.
Going into this week's game against Campbell County, the Pioneers' Kuntz needs 51 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Simon Kenton takes on the Camels. The Pioneers have allowed 206 points this season, while Campbell County has given up 272. Simon Kenton allowed 22 points last week as it topped Frank Parks' team.
The Pioneers made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,620 from 1,999. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 29-22 victory over the Defenders last week.
