The Woodcreek Timberwolves will face off against the Ponderosa Bruins at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Woodcreek comes in on eight and Ponderosa on seven.
Woodcreek's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They walked away with a 4-0 win over Bella Vista.
Maryn Macneil made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Macneil was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Macneil wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Preuss, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one double. That's the most hits Preuss has posted since back in March.
Meanwhile, Ponderosa got the win against Bella Vista on Thursday by a conclusive 13-5. The result was nothing new for the Bruins, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Kate McCartney was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Warney, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Ponderosa was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
Woodcreek's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Ponderosa, their record now sits at 12-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Woodcreek hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Ponderosa struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Woodcreek skirted past Ponderosa 4-2 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Timberwolves since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
