It was a good run, but the Arroyo Knights unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell 41-34 to South El Monte. Arroyo was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Leading South El Monte to victory were Tony Aguilar and Titus Hernandez. Aguilar scored 13 points, while Hernandez scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Eli Lopez was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Arroyo's loss dropped their record down to 11-13. As for South El Monte, they pushed their record up to 11-15 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arroyo will take on the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Gabrielino has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 473 points over their last seven games. South El Monte will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Lions at 6:30 p.m. on February 2nd. El Monte has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 8.
