It was a good run, but The West Branch Warriors unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They received a tough blow as they fell 49-35 to North Star. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (34), West Branch still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why West Branch lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tyler Biggans. Despite the final result, he rushed for 92 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, and also threw for 279 yards on 20 of 30 attempts. Another player making a difference was Conner Danko, who threw for 106 yards and two touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes.
North Star was led to victory by Ethan Smith and Connor Yoder. Smith picked up 241 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Yoder threw for 372 yards and seven touchdowns while picking up 18.6 yards per attempt. Smith's longest reception was for an incredible 74 yards. Ethan Eller did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 52 receiving yards.
West Branch's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for North Star, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.
West Branch will head out on the road to face off against Cambria Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Star, they will take on Windber at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Pennsylvania (Windber is ranked 323rd, while North Star is ranked 322nd).
