After flying high against the Franklin Yellowjackets last Wednesday, the McNair Eagles came back down to earth. McNair took a 58-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Edison on Friday. While losing is never fun, McNair can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 915th, while Edison is ranked 358th).
Despite the loss, McNair still got an impressive performance from DaWaine Watson, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That was a full 45.1% of McNair's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Isaac Flores was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Edison found their leader in underclassman Damarcus Cobb Jr, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Terrell Tek, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and four steals.
McNair's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-16. As for Edison, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.
McNair will be playing at home against Weston Ranch at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Weston Ranch's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 15 games.
