Lake Howell is 1-9 against Hagerty since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Lake Howell will venture away from home to square off against Hagerty at 6:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Lake Howell was handed a 11-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Trinity Christian Academy 9-8.
Nathaniel Grimm was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Diego Miranda, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Crews, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Hagerty entered their tilt with Harmony on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They never let the Longhorns get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Huskies have posted since March 4th.
N. Adkins tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Hagerty saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was R. Foscolo, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Hagerty's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Lake Howell, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lake Howell has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hagerty struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Lake Howell might still be hurting after the 11-0 defeat they got from Hagerty in their previous meeting on Tuesday. Can Lake Howell avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
