Make it five blowout wins for the Bethel Jaguars this season. They blew past Kennedy 47-19 at home. Given Bethel's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 326th, while Kennedy is ranked 1072nd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bethel's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but H. Howard led the charge by scoring ten points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was D. Stricklen, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
When it comes to explaining why Kennedy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Darion Adams. Despite the final result, he scored eight points.
Bethel pushed their record up to 9-6 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.8 points per game. As for Kennedy, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bethel won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Rodriguez at 6:00 p.m. on January 13th. Rodriguez has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 271 points over their last four contests. As for Kennedy, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Hercules at 7:00 p.m.
