The North Bay Haven Academy Buccaneers are taking a road trip to square off against the South Walton Seahawks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (North Bay Haven Academy has six straight wins, South Walton has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
North Bay Haven Academy barely beat Crestview the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Buccaneers were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Bulldogs on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Buccaneers, who have now won 12 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Addison Mallon made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring four runs while going 4-for-4. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Bailee Gladden and Kaylee Goodpaster did most of the damage at the plate: Gladden went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Goodpaster went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Goodpaster is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ally Brady, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.
North Bay Haven Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crestview only posted an OBP of .176.
Meanwhile, South Walton came up short against Fort Walton Beach on Tuesday and fell 6-1.
South Walton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zoey Kreinus, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
North Bay Haven Academy's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for South Walton, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.
South Walton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: North Bay Haven Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .504. It's a different story for South Walton, though, as they've only averaged .362. Will they be able to contain North Bay Haven Academy's hitters?
Everything went North Bay Haven Academy's way against South Walton when the teams last played back in February, as North Bay Haven Academy made off with a 15-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Buccaneers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
