Bender went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Wholaver went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Stella Stoltz was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Cambria Heights hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Conemaugh Township struck out nine times.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Penns Manor). They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over United on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Comets.
Macey Pegg was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Pegg was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Penns Manor got a massive performance out of Joss Bennet, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Allie Rhea, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Penns Manor's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Cambria Heights, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.
Both Cambria Heights and Penns Manor just can't seem to miss. The Highlanders have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Penns Manor struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Cambria Heights' way against Penns Manor in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Cambria Heights made off with a 9-2 win. Do the Highlanders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Comets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
