Neosho is 9-1 against Carl Junction since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Neosho Wildcats will be playing at home against the Carl Junction Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Neosho and three for Carl Junction.
Neosho pushed their score all the way to 56 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 66-56 to McDonald County.
Neosho might have lost, but man, Tyrone Harris was a machine: he scored 25 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harris has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Oliver Martin, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Carl Junction also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Carthage by a score of 59-50.
Despite the loss, Carl Junction saw an underclassman step up: Brody Pant scored 14 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Jett Hocut was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds.
Neosho's loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Carl Junction, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Neosho have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 23.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Carl Junction struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Neosho suffered a grim 58-37 defeat to Carl Junction when the teams last played back in January. Can Neosho avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
