Ridgeview has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They and the Gate City Blue Devils will face off at 6:30 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Ridgeview stacked an 11th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They breezed by John Battle at home to the tune of 68-32. Given Ridgeview's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while the Trojans are ranked 248th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Gate City strolled past the Generals with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 61-47. That looming 61-47 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Gate City yet this season.
Ridgeview's win bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Gate City, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-8 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Ridgeview against the Blue Devils in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 68-28 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ridgeview since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
