The Arizona College Prep Knights's game on Saturday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Saguaro 60-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Arizona College Prep got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Fauster Johnson out in front who scored 18 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least 25% of Arizona College Prep's points. Another player making a difference was Alex Neill, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Nashoba Redhouse and Joe Miller certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Redhouse scored 19 points along with five rebounds, while Miller scored 13 points along with five rebounds. The matchup was Redhouse's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Mikey Shepston was another key contributor, scoring four points along with three steals.
Arizona College Prep pushed their record up to 10-3 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.1 points per game. As for Saguaro, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Arizona College Prep will head out on the road to face off against Shadow Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Shadow Mountain comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Saguaro and Verrado will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 14th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Verrado is ranked 150th, while Saguaro is ranked 172nd).
