The Tom Bean Tomcats will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Sam Rayburn Rebels at 6:30 p.m. Tom Bean is coming into the game hot, having won their last 17 games.
Tom Bean barely beat Honey Grove the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tomcats blew past the Warriors 15-3 on Tuesday. The Tomcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Cash Linder was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.
In other batting news, Ryan Dearmond was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Dyson Farris, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run.
Tom Bean always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Honey Grove only posted an OBP of .368.
Meanwhile, Sam Rayburn wound up with the same score they had in their last game (5-2), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.
Booker Binford was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Tom Bean's victory bumped their record up to 18-1. As for Sam Rayburn, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-9.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Tom Bean has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Sam Rayburn struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Tom Bean's way against Sam Rayburn in their previous meeting back in March, as Tom Bean made off with a 6-0 win. Do the Tomcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rebels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
