Westwood Christian proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 23) but on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Gainesville Christian Community and snuck past 46-44. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Westwood Christian has posted yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Westwood Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tripp Kirkland, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was William Cerritos, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Open Bible Christian has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Westwood Christian, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
Everything came up roses for Open Bible Christian against Westwood Christian when the teams last played back in November of 2023 as the team secured a 78-51 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Open Bible Christian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
