Lytle is on a four-game streak of home wins, while the Owls are on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Lytle Pirates will take on the Hondo Owls at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Lytle's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight games.
Lytle can now show off 14 landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 94-17 win over Dilley. Given Lytle's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 365th, while the Wolves are ranked 1556th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Calyssa Sevier was her usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 31 points, ten rebounds, and 11 steals. Sevier is crushing the point category: she's posted at least 17 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Arianna Garcia, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Hondo humbled the Wolves with a 63-16 victory. That 47 point margin sets a new team best for Hondo this season.
Lytle is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 24-7 record this season. As for Hondo, their win bumped their record up to 18-8.
Everything came up roses for Lytle against the Owls when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 69-39 victory. Does Lytle have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Owls turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
