The Crystal City Javelinas scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Cotulla 100-57 at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Crystal City has managed all season.
Crystal City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Eli Mata led the charge by scoring 20 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds. Mata has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Christopher Mena, who scored 23 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Crystal City has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-11 record this season. As for Cotulla, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.
Crystal City will head out on the road to face off against Lytle at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Lytle will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Cotulla will take on Dilley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Dilley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
