The Brady Eagles gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They claimed a resounding 57-28 victory over Garden County at home. For Brady, this counts as revenge for the 28-26 defeat Garden County walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brady to victory, but perhaps none more so than Taryn Stearns, who scored 13 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lydia McGown, who scored 13 points along with 6 steals.
Despite the loss, Garden County had strong showings from Korryn Beberniss, who scored 6 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 blocks, and Karma Peterson, who scored 6 points along with 9 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Garden County were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brady only pulled down 23.
Brady's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Garden County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Brady will be playing in front of their home fans against Sutherland at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Sutherland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Friday. As for Garden County, they will head out on the road to face off against Banner County on Saturday. Hopefully Banner County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 39 on Friday.
