4A Region IV District 27 recap October 29, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Clemens, who defeated 115th ranked Boerne-Champion, 34-21.
The Buffaloes moved up to 116 from 171 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A Region IV District 27. Clemens was able to move up by defeating the Chargers 34-21.
Tivy's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Cade Dyal threw for 183 and 2 touchdowns and Tyler Ahrens had 125 yards receiving. On the ground William Randal contributed 107 yards. Hutch White helped Tivy's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 29 yards.
Henry Young was a passing and rushing force as Seguin lost to Hays. He completed 12 passes for 156 yards and also ran for 100 yards. Young's favorite target this week was Avion Dora, who caught 6 passes for 101 yards.
He was 13-17 with 0 interceptions.
Dyal put up the best numbers through the air as the Antlers beat Lehman. Dyal's favorite target this week was Ahrens, who caught 5 passes for 125 yards.
On the heels of Walker Franz and Colton Applewhite, the Matadors have had great success on offense. Franz leads the league in passing with 1,178 yards, while Applewhite has rushed for 887 yards this season. Tivy's Ahrens leads the league in receiving yards with 508 on 27 catches.
Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when David Jones' team's Ahrens goes up against Seguin's Trevor Kilcrease.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when Wayne Walker's team and the Antlers face off next week.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Alamo Heights takes on the Buffaloes. The Mules are currently in fourth, while Clemens is in first.
There should be lots of points scored when Tivy and the Matadors face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Antlers comes in having scored 181 this season, while Seguin has scored 175. Tivy scored 36 points last week as it topped Lehman.
The Antlers took down Todd Raymond's team 36-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Dyal in the win.
