Cape Coral has gone a perfect 3-0 against Gateway recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. Cape Coral is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 35.8 points per game this season.
Last Friday, Cape Coral came up short against Riverdale and fell 25-15. The game marked the Seahawks' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Although Cape Coral took the loss, they still got scores from Vincent Miranda and Jermain Skinner.
Meanwhile, Gateway played a tough contest last Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Lakewood Ranch, falling 36-14. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-0.
Cape Coral will have to contain Clifton Hood Jr. as he made an impact in Gateway's last game. He rushed for 85 yards and two TDs.
Even if they lost, Gateway's defensive line still kept up the pressure with 3.5 sacks. Jeramie Hicks refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Another thorn in Lakewood Ranch's side was Ahmad Davis Jr., who picked up 0.5 sacks and made 11 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Gateway's loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Cape Coral, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 8-1.
Thursday's matchup might be decided in the trenches. Cape Coral has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 156.7 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Gateway, though, as they've been averaging only 77.7 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Cape Coral took their win against Gateway in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 27-6 score. In that game, the Seahawks amassed a halftime lead of 21-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
