It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Clay City Eels can now relate to. Their tough 57-36 defeat to the Thunderbirds on Friday might stick with them for a while. Clay City has struggled against North Central recently, as their contest on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Clay City still got an impressive performance from Lulu Koehler, who scored 14 points along with three steals and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Jackson, who scored seven points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shelby Seay, who went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points and 3 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Seay has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jalyn Davidson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten assists.
Clay City's loss dropped their record down to 9-15. As for North Central, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-10.
Clay City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for North Central, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Shakamak at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd. North Central is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.3 points per game this season.
