Softball Recap: Carrollton Wins Going Away Against Salem

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against New Philadelphia, Carrollton was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Salem Quakers with a sharp 17-11 victory. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won four contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Carrollton let Laiken Spilker and Juliaunna Miller run wild. Spilker went 3-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Miller went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. That's the most hits Miller has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Pittman, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Carrollton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Carrollton's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Salem, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-6.

Carrollton and Salem could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Carrollton will face off against West Branch at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (211 vs. 95). Meanwhile, Salem (ranked 291st) will meet Station Camp (ranked 90th) at 9:00 a.m. on Friday.
