Softball Recap: Canutillo Has No Trouble Against Jefferson

Canutillo had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 17-run drubbing they dealt Jefferson on Tuesday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Silver Foxes with a sharp 21-4 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 games by six runs or more this season.

Alina Banda made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Banda was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Canutillo got a massive performance out of Abigail Lujan, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs Lujan has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Salazar, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Canutillo pushed their record up to 18-9-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.7 runs over those games. As for Jefferson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-18 record this season.
