Even though the Middle Creek Mustangs have not done well against the Apex Friendship Patriots recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Middle Creek came out on top against Apex Friendship by a score of 62-55. The win was all the more spectacular given Middle Creek's disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 399th, while Apex Friendship is ranked 153rd).
Leading Middle Creek to victory were Yasir Hall and Greyson Land. Hall scored 23 points along with eight rebounds, while Land scored 22 points along with eight rebounds. The matchup was Hall's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Obataobie Okafor, who scored nine points along with seven blocks.
Middle Creek is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. As for Apex Friendship, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-2.
Middle Creek will be home for the holidays to greet Athens Drive at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Apex Friendship will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Pine Lake Prep at 5:30 p.m. on December 28th.
