The Pomeroy Pirates will challenge the Waitsburg Cardinals at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Pomeroy is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
On Friday, everything came up roses for Pomeroy against Tekoa-Rosalia as the squad secured a 60-12 victory. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won four matchups by 48 points or more so far this season.

Pomeroy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kyzer Herres, who rushed for 152 yards and two scores while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. Herres is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Huwe, who gained 45 total yards and four touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Waitsburg faced Garfield-Palouse in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The contest between the Cardinals and the Vikings didn't end well, with the Cardinals falling 58-42. The Cardinals' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Pomeroy will have to contain Isaias Reyes as he made an impact in Waitsburg's last game. He rushed for 86 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 42 receiving yards and one TD. Reyes was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 61 yards. Martin Vasquez got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.
Even if they lost, Waitsburg's defensive line still kept up the pressure with nine sacks. Jarod Hankins led the group effort, picking up five of those sacks all by himself. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 23.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Waitsburg, racking up 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Vasquez, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Waitsburg's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-2. As for Pomeroy, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.
