Basketball Game Preview: Monroe Golden Tornadoes vs. Dorman Cavaliers

The Monroe Golden Tornadoes and the Dorman Cavaliers will round out the year against one another at at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Monroe is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.9 points per game this season.

Monroe is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Lovejoy, posting a 79-47 victory. The Golden Tornadoes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 27 points or more this season.

Monroe found their leader in sophomore Kie'Aundria Acree, who dropped a double-double on 42 points and 15 rebounds. Acree's evening made it 32 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Taylor Mckinzy was another key player, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds.

Monroe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in nine consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Dorman ended up a good deal behind South Pointe on Saturday and lost 55-39. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Stallions are ranked first).

Monroe will need focus on slowing down Morgan White, one of several Dorman players who made an impact when they last played. She posted ten points and seven rebounds.

Monroe has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32.5 points. As for Dorman, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.
