Grand Saline and Edgewood are an even 3-3 against one another since November of 2015, but not for long. The Indians will welcome the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Edgewood will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Grand Saline extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Indians claimed a resounding 42-6 win over Harmony. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 460th, while the Eagles are ranked 949th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

| 10/03/25 @ Harmony | 287 |
| 10/18/24 vs Chisum | 245 |
| 09/05/25 @ Palmer | 212 |
| 11/01/24 vs Prairiland | 202 |
| 11/08/24 @ Quitman | 190 |
Jett Taylor had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 287 yards and three TDs on only 12 passes, while also rushing for 77 yards and one score on only nine carries. Those 287 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Grand Saline's leading receiver Kolton Prox was Taylor's top target yet again, picking up 124 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Edgewood). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Quitman 62-7. Edgewood hasn't had any issues with Quitman recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Edgewood's win came from a few key players Grand Saline will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Trevor Golightly, who threw for 369 yards and seven TDs on only 18 passes, and also rushed for 56 yards. Edgewood is undefeated when Golightly posts 250 or more passing yards, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Lucas Pippin, who gained 229 total yards and four touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Edgewood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 203 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 166 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.
Edgewood's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Grand Saline, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
The upcoming contest will be a clash of competing strengths. Grand Saline has deployed a run-first offense that has averaged 187.8 rushing yards a game. Meanwhile, Edgewood has preferred to attack from the air: they average 277.7 passing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Friday? There's only one way to find out.
Everything came up roses for Grand Saline against Edgewood in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 75-40 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Pippin, who rushed for 232 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Indians still be able to contain Pippin? There's only one way to find out.
