Baseball Recap: Discovery Canyon Has No Trouble Against Air Academy

Discovery Canyon barely beat Air Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Thunder were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Kadets on Tuesday. The Thunder might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by nine runs or more this season.

Discovery Canyon got a great performance from Andrew Torres as he struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Torres has posted since back in March.

At the plate, Discovery Canyon let Jake Cody and Cole Teltschik run wild. Cody went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and four RBI, while Teltschik went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI. Those four RBI gave Cody a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nate Singleton, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Discovery Canyon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .531. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Discovery Canyon's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 9-2. As for Air Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-3-1.

Discovery Canyon will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Kadets: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
