Softball Recap: Bingham Extends Winning Streak to Four

Bingham got themselves on the board against Layton on Saturday, but Layton never followed suit. They blew past the Lancers 15-0. Considering the Miners have won five contests by more than eight runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Bingham let Brenna Cowley and Tatum Ewing run wild. Cowley went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Ewing went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two runs gave Ewing a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Shyann Banasky, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

The victory (which was Bingham's fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-5-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Layton, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Looking ahead, Bingham will square off against Box Elder at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bees' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Miners' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Layton, they will face off against Copper Hills at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Grizzlies have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
