Baseball Recap: Addison Trail Extends Winning Streak to Three

Addison Trail entered their tilt with Proviso East on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 12-9 win over the Pirates. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-0 last Tuesday.

Jonathon Valdez made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Valdez was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. He is becoming a predictor of Addison Trail's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-6 when he doesn't).

In other pitching news, Jordan Ciezobka looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Louie Franczak, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Casey Carlson, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Addison Trail was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Addison Trail's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Proviso East, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
