If the Erwin Warriors were feeling good off their 55-22 takedown of the Smoky Mountain Mustangs last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Erwin was outmatched by A.C. Reynolds on the road and fell 72-27. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Erwin has scored all season.
Teasia Hines was Erwin's leading scorer, having posted six points. Hines also led the team in rebounds with six.
Leading A.C. Reynolds to victory were Peyton Harvey and Anna Wilcox. Harvey scored 17 points along with seven assists and five rebounds, while Wilcox scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Wilcox has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Julie Janus was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Erwin's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for A.C. Reynolds, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-1.
Erwin will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on North Buncombe at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Hopefully North Buncombe focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Wednesday. A.C. Reynolds will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on McDowell at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. McDowell is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
