The Lewisburg Green Dragons will face off against the Danville Ironmen at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Lewisburg turned things around against Milton on Monday. They blew past the Black Panthers 12-2. The Green Dragons not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 19th (when they won 16-5).
Cohen Hoover made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Lewisburg is 3-1 when Hoover posts two or more runs, but 1-8-1 otherwise.

Lewisburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Danville came tearing into Monday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the RED TORNADOES get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. Considering the Ironmen have won nine games by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Cole Duffy was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Wyatt Shultz was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Eli Welliver, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Danville pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lewisburg, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-9-1.
Lewisburg's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. The Green Dragons have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Danville, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Lewisburg continue to outrun the ball?
Lewisburg might still be hurting after the 11-2 defeat they got from Danville when the teams last played on April 11th. Will the Green Dragons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
