Softball Recap: Westfield Wins Going Away Against Centreville

Westfield won the last time they faced Centreville and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 13-2 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

Morgan Mills made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carly Austin, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ciara Ramsey, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs.

Westfield hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 4-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Westfield now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Centreville, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Coming up, Westfield will host Oakton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Centreville, they are taking a road trip to square off against James Madison at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Warhawks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
