GIRLS BASKETBALL: TYIKA ROBINSON SCORES 44 POINTS

Tyika Robinson, a 5-3 senior guard, scored a career-high 44 points – including eight 3-pointers – as J.F. Shields (Beatrice, Ala.) defeated Georgiana (Ala.), 76-58. She also had six assists, four rebounds and three steals.
Robinson averaged 26 points last year while sparking the Panthers to a 29-0 record, the Class A state championship and earning state Class A Player of the Year honors. The Panthers are 13-0 this year, riding a 42-game winning streak and they have won 72 of their last 73 games.
Former NBA player John Drew also attended the small school where he averaged 41 points during his career with high games of 77 and 74 points – No. 2 and 3, respectively, in state history.

Jude Schimmel scored a school-record 51 points during a 73-68 loss to Century (Hillsboro, Ore.). Her sister, Shoni, held the record of 48.
* Eastern Hills (Fort Worth, Texas) defeated North Side (Fort Worth, Texas), 50-20, behind 42 points by Artavia Guyton.
* Jasmine Martin totaled 36 points, 10 rebounds and 10 steals as Timber Creek Regional (Erial, N.J.) defeated West (Cherry Hill, N.J.), 66-40.
* Coaching milestone victories were posted recently by Jeff Sink of
Brea Olinda (Brea, Calif.), No. 700; Mike Floyd of
Jay (San Antonio), No. 600; and Jay Trousdale of
Poway (Calif.), No. 500.
