Softball Recap: Minersville Wins Going Away Against Nativity BVM

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Blue Mountain, Minersville was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Nativity BVM Green Wave as they made off with a 16-1 victory. The Battlin' Miners haven't had any issues with the Green Wave recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Minersville got a massive performance out of Sara McGrath, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave McGrath a new career-high. Grace Sterner was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Minersville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nativity BVM only posted an OBP of .308.

Minersville's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Nativity BVM, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season.

Minersville and Nativity BVM could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Battlin' Miners will take on Schuylkill Haven at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (315 vs. 139). Meanwhile, Nativity BVM (ranked 483rd) will meet Tri-Valley (ranked 137th) at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
