Even though the Sargent Farmers have not done well against the Del Norte Tigers recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Sargent walked away with a 47-37 win over the Tigers. That's two games straight that Sargent has won by exactly ten points.
Sargent's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kade Temple led the charge by scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Temple has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Lucas Garcia, who scored seven points along with eight steals and five rebounds.
Despite the loss, Del Norte had strong showings from Kelby Mondragon, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals, and Tytus Atencio, who scored eight points. Mondragon hasn't dropped below three steals for six straight games.
The victory makes it two in a row for Sargent and bumps their season record up to 12-3. As for Del Norte, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sargent and the Mustangs will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Sanford has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 245 points over their last four matches. As for Del Norte, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Monte Vista focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Saturday.
