Neodesha is 2-8 against the Chargers since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Neodesha Blue Streaks will head out on the road to square off against the Cherryvale Chargers at 7:30 p.m. Neodesha is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 14-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
While Neodesha couldn't quite beat the Yellowjackets on Tuesday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 29-point loss they were dealt last Friday. Neodesha fell just short of the Yellowjackets by a score of 46-44.
Meanwhile, Cherryvale's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They were beaten by Fredonia 60-25. Cherryvale was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Cherryvale's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Carsen Ellis, who scored nine points along with seven steals and five rebounds, and Landon Fox who scored seven points along with five rebounds and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Ellis grabbed two or more steals.
Neodesha has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Cherryvale, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.
Everything came up roses for Neodesha against the Chargers in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 76-24 victory. With Neodesha ahead 49-14 at the half, the match was all but over already.
