The Middleburg Broncos will head out to face off against the Paxon School For Advanced Studies Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Middleburg is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Old Plank Christian Academy on Monday as Middleburg made off with a 19-2 victory. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Reece Pollitt looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Johnny De Antonis was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Nico Hill, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.
Middleburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Paxon School For Advanced Studies waltzed into their game on Wednesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They blew past the Lions 11-1. That's two games straight that the Golden Eagles have won by exactly ten runs.
Brayden Wilkerson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Jaquez Jackson and Robert Bryson did most of the damage at the plate: Jackson scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-2, while Bryson went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Jackson is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Javon Johnson, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.
Paxon School For Advanced Studies' victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Middleburg, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Middleburg has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Paxon School For Advanced Studies struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Middleburg skirted past Paxon School For Advanced Studies 6-5 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will Middleburg repeat their success, or does Paxon School For Advanced Studies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
