Animas is 0-5 against Magdalena since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Animas Panthers' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Magdalena Steers at 6:00 p.m. on February 13th. Animas will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Mexico Rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while Magdalena is ranked 28th).
Last Saturday, Animas took a serious blow against Cliff, falling 73-30.
Animas' loss came about despite a quality game from Lemuel Mcdonald, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mcdonald has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Magdalena had already won 11 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38 points), and they went ahead and made it 12 on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Quemado 62-29 at home. Magdalena has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 18 games by 20 points or more this season.
Animas dropped their record down to 2-18 with that loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Magdalena, their victory bumped their record up to 21-1.
Animas was taken down by Magdalena 81-34 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Animas was down 35-13.
