The New Fairfield Rebels's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight defeat. They took a 54-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Middletown.
Shalyn Smith was her usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with four steals for Middletown. Smith is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Tessa Porch was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
New Fairfield's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Middletown, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-3.
New Fairfield will head out on the road to challenge the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Joel Barlow is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Middletown will take on the Bobcats at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. South Windsor will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Connecticut Rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Blue Dragons are ranked 20th).
