Rockingham County is 6-1 against Walkertown since February of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Cougars will look to defend their home field against the Wolfpack at 6:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Rockingham County comes in on four and Walkertown on six.
Rockingham County's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over Bartlett Yancey. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by seven runs or more this season.
Ava Grace Pruitt and Maci Hundly were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Pruitt tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Hundly tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. At bat, Pruitt went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Hundly got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That double was Pruitt's first of the season.

In other batting news, Bella Jones was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Brannock, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Rockingham County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .720. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bartlett Yancey only posted an OBP of .250.
Meanwhile, Walkertown narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Bandys 5-4.
Like Rockingham County, Walkertown also got a great game from a two-way player: Macy Miller. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Miller was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sadie Smith, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Aubrey Niven was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Rockingham County's victory bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Walkertown, their win bumped their record up to 17-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Rockingham County hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Walkertown struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
