The Argonaut Mustangs will head out to take on the El Dorado Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
On Thursday, Argonaut came up short against Amador and fell 3-1.
Argonaut was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Amador work for it, especially in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 23-25, 26-24, 25-12.
Meanwhile, El Dorado posted their closest win since September 15th on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Union Mine 3-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.
It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day El Dorado got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 20-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-13.
Argonaut better keep an eye on Sofia Rodriguez. She was instrumental in El Dorado's win, getting 36 digs and nine assists. Those nine assists gave Rodriguez a new career-high.
Argonaut's loss dropped their record down to 13-12. As for El Dorado, their victory bumped their record up to 12-8.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's match: Argonaut has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8.3 aces per game. However, it's not like El Dorado struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Argonaut was able to grind out a solid win over El Dorado when the teams last played last Saturday, winning 2-0. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
