Basketball Recap: Lamar Consolidated's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

After flying high against Royal last Saturday, Lamar Consolidated came back down to earth. The Lamar Consolidated Mustangs fell 54-41 to the Fort Bend Kempner Cougars on Friday. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Despite the loss, Lamar Consolidated still got an impressive performance from Mason Lockett, who posted 13 points. The dominant performance also gave Lockett a new career-high in steals (two). Another player making a difference was Edgar Garcia, who went 5 of 11 en route to 17 points.

Fort Bend Kempner can attribute much of their success to Landen Parker, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 15 points. Another player making a difference was Shemar Smith, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 10 points.

Lamar Consolidated's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-9. As for Fort Bend Kempner, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-9.

Lamar Consolidated didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 48-38 defeat against Manvel on the 28th. Fort Bend Kempner has also already played their next contest, a 48-34 win against Carver Collegiate Academy on the 27th.
