The Window Rock Fighting Scouts have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 22 points or more this season. They took their matchup on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 63-31 win over Alchesay. That's another feather in the cap for Window Rock, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Window Rock's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Devae Willie, who scored 18 points along with seven steals. Those seven steals set a new season-high mark for her. Melicia Nelson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals.
Window Rock's victory bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Alchesay, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-5 record this season.
Window Rock is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Chinle at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th. Chinle will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 79th, while Window Rock is ranked eighth). Alchesay won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Tuba City at 5:00 p.m. on January 6th. Tuba City is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
