Basketball Recap: Eastern Hancock Has No Trouble Against Monroe Central

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Greenfield-Central, Eastern Hancock was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 74-54 margin over the Monroe Central Golden Bears. The Royals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 20 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Caden Powers, who went 8 for 12 on his way to 22 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Landyn Loring, who went 6 of 13 en route to 19 points.

Eastern Hancock was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monroe Central only racked up ten assists.

Monroe Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Easton Foster, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. Foster's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Luke Morgan was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Eastern Hancock is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-4 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27.8 points. As for Monroe Central, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-3.

Eastern Hancock didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-47 loss against Shenandoah on the 25th. As for Monroe Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 68-63 defeat against Blackford on the 25th.
