3A Region IV District 26 recap November 5, 2013
La Grange's Bralon Hutchison recorded the longest rushing play in 3A Region IV District 26 this season in his game against Yoakum last week.
Cuero scaled the state rankings by moving to 296 from 351 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Gobblers climbed the ranks as a result of beating Gonzales 28-20.
The Bulldogs' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Tre'vontae Hights threw for 58 yards and Timmy Blakeney had 26 yards receiving. On the ground Hights chipped in 132 yards. Chase Hermes helped Yoakum's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 18 yards.
Yoakum's dynamic duo of Hights and Blakeney proved to be unstoppable against the Leopards, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hermes helped Yoakum's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 18 yards.
La Grange's Dillon Davis and Wes Scott have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Davis has thrown for 982 yards this season, while Scott has 19 catches for 394 yards. Hights from Brent Kornegay's team leads the league in rushing with 1,115 yards.
The top two teams in 3A Region IV District 26 will face off this week when first place La Grange takes on second place Cuero. Matt Kates' team beat the Bulldogs last week, while Cuero bested the Apaches.
Rodney Filmore of the the Leopards is just 41 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Filmore has rushed for 959 yards on 122 carries so far this year.
La Grange added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Yoakum, 28-7. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Leopards.
