The Kentwood Kangaroos will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Homer Pelicans at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Kentwood had no problem doing just that on Friday. They claimed a resounding 46-8 win over the Trojans at home. Kentwood might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won five matches by 30 points or more this season.
Kentwood got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Eric Earl jr out in front who threw for 346 yards and five touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Jermaine Brown, who picked up 176 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Kentwood's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Lamikal Callahan.
Meanwhile, Homer narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Oakdale 34-32. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Homer.
Kentwood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Homer, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.
